Unpacking the No Surprises Billing Act – Impacts to the Independent Practice

The legislation was intended to provide consumer protections – but it has also brought some unexpected compliance requirements to providers in the form of increased transparency, patient communication, provider directory accuracy and timely maintenance, and insurance network participation. It has also raised concerns about potential impacts to payor contract negotiations and reimbursement for services.
