About Amy
Amy Johnson oversees the payor contracting and provider network development service for SMSC clients across the U.S. In her role, she is currently responsible for all commercial payor and Medicare contracting for the largest independent physician practice in Maine, leads payor contracting efforts for several ambulatory surgery sites, and has a demonstrated track record of finding new revenue and improved reimbursement opportunities with both commercial and governmental payors.
Amy has worked in the payor contracting industry for national organizations since 1997. Over the last two decades, Amy has developed a wealth of experience in negotiating contracts with every type of healthcare organization, from large ACOs and IPAs to the independent practice. She also has experience in negotiating various reimbursement methodologies from bundled and case rates, Medicare physician, ASC and APC rates, pay-for-performance arrangements, and fee-for-service.
Amy has led various teams in developing hospital and physician networks across New England and upstate New York. She has developed long-lasting relationships with her peers from around the country in these national organizations and has traveled to other markets to assist in their development. As the industry has changed its direction in procuring alternative reimbursement methods, Amy has been at the forefront of these changes; educating and leading her clients to the next level.
Amy graduated from the University of Southern New Hampshire with a degree in organizational leadership.
